Phase 1 Replacement of Lead Water Lines to Start Soon
9/22/2025
There are 25 homes that will be receiving new water lines thanks to a grant obtained by the City from the MN Department of Health. These 25 homes have been identified as having lead water lines from their home to the curb stop and the line from the curb stop on is not lead. These homes were notified and have signed a release for the work to be done.
TE Underground from Tyler, MN will be the contractor for the project. They have already begun putting out white marking flags for the other utilities to mark from. Please do not remove these flags until your line is complete. Removing markings could be considered a misdemeanor and may create liability for any damage or safety hazards. TE plans to begin replacing lines either this week or next. They plan to complete the project in a few weeks including all repairs and restoration.
At the pre-construction meeting held, TE stated that they will likely have to place their equipment across from the property they are replacing the line on. This is because the room needed to get the new pipe in. They will do their best to minimize any disruption of any ground they have to place the machine on. TE will keep their equipment in the road right of way the best they can and will restore any ground disturbed in and out of the right of way.
TE will have to enter the houses that are getting new lines. The new line will likely come through the basement floor. They will have to access the new line to hook it up to your water meter. They will also have to patch where the new line comes into the home.
After your line is replaced, you will receive a filtered water pitcher that has a filter along with educational material as to why you will want to use the pitcher. During the construction and replacement process, it is possible for particles to break away and be in the water. It is recommended to use the filtered pitcher for at least 6 months for your drinking and cooking water.
There will be an 11-month warranty window on the work being done. If after the project is complete, please report any problems to the city offices and they will give it to the contractor. Please contact Chris of Bollig 320-295-3068 during the project if you have any issues or concerns.
Future phases of lead line replacement timing will be dependent on state funding and guidelines.
Please be respectful of the digging crew as they are just doing their job. We thank everyone for their patience during this process.
