What is this survey for? In February 2025, First Children’s Finance conducted a detailed analysis estimating a need for approximately 201 additional child care slots for children under age five in Redwood County. Over the coming months, a local core team will partner with First Children’s Finance to gather further insights through surveys, interviews, provider events, and other community engagement efforts to better understand the specific challenges and opportunities in our child care landscape. Lack of childcare effects the workforce and how businesses can conduct their business. Even if we ourselves do not use childcare, it will have effects on our lives as well through the businesses we use.

A Child Care Town Hall will be held on October 28, 2025, inviting all community members to review the findings and collaborate on innovative strategies to support child care providers and address the shortage.
